Get Started at CrossFit Sierra

Thanks for your interest in Crossfit Sierra! We currently offer small group training six days a week, and are adding additional sessions as demand dictates. Private training is also offered by appointment. 

Your first workout and evaluation is always free! This INTRO session is where you'll get a chance to learn more about our program and actually experience a CrossFit Sierra coaching and training session for yourself. Its purpose is to serve you better by getting to know your goals and expectations, fitness level, and experience. Everybody starts somewhere. We very much want you to experience the quality of the program and coaching before you make the decision to join us. 

The CrossFit program is different from any other experience you've had at commercial gyms. Our emphasis is on improving human movement and developing your athleticism. We train in a small group setting, practice our craft every day and encourage each other along the way. You will learn the Olympic lifts, Kettlebells, Powerlifting, basic gymnastic moves and many different bodyweight exercises. We use dumbells, barbells, bumper plates, plyo-boxes, Medicine balls, gymnastic rings, pull-up bars, agility ladders and drills, to effectively train individuals, groups, and teams, and we do so every day. 

We also post our workouts, results and photos everyday. With this and log books our athletes can go back and review their past work and see the improvement. This is very motivating! We also discuss and review your diet on a regular basis. Often overlooked, your diet, or fuel, is paramount to your success - and we can help. 

There are several ways to get started at CrossFit Sierra (CFS).

CrossFit Sierra Skill Sessions 

The most effective and efficient entry point is with our Skill Sessions. These are a series of sessions intended to teach the fundamental movements and excercises used in our programming. During these sessions you will learn the skills necessary to integrate more smoothly and safely into our group sessions. Each session includes a skill review and development portion, and a workout that includes them. As more skills are developed, the Intensity of the workout is gradually increased. 

Our goal is to ground you in a good foundation of movements and proper mechanics so that you can work alongside more experienced CrossFitters.

One-on-One Sessions

Some people prefer to train in a one-on-one environment. We can make that arrangement if you choose. The skill sessions will be similar as will the integration of Intensity. If you have medical and/or orthopedic issues or are more interested in developing a specific skill, this may be the option for you. You can alway join the group sessions as appropriate.

Already a CrossFitter?

If you've been training CrossFit for a while either alone or at another Affiliate, we offer a 'test-out' option. You can contact us and we'll schedule a time for you to come demonstrate your competency with one of our coaches. You'll be asked to demonstrate many movements from basic bodyweight calisthenics, Olympic cleans and their different positions, pressing, push-pressing, deadlift mechanics....if you can do this then you should be fine. If this sounds like another language to you, you should come in for some Skill Sessions.
